Nigel Havers tours the UK this autumn in a new quick-witted and contemporary comedy about the trials of modern relationships by the BAFTA award-winning writer Nick Fisher.
In Basket Case, dependable Miranda and her ex-husband, the smoothly charming and wholly unreliable Guy are thrown together when their faithful old family pet takes a turn for the worse. Reunited over the dog basket, Guy and Miranda find they haven't 'moved on' quite as they'd imagined. When they are joined by family friend James, who rarely sees a stick without getting the wrong end of it, and Martin, the vet and a long time admirer of Miranda, the scene is set for some startling home-truths as this rapid-fire foursome mines laughter and touching observations in equal measure.
Basket Case stars one of our most accomplished and popular actors Nigel Havers as Guy. His numerous television and film credits include A Passage to India, Chariots of Fire, The Charmer, Coronation Street and the US series Brothers and Sisters. He played Serge in Art both on tour and in the West End, and recently starred in the record-breaking tour of Rebecca.
Christine Kavanagh who appeared alongside Nigel Havers in Manchild, stars as Miranda, with David Cardy, well known for his long-running role in TV's Birds of a Feather, as James and Graham Seed as Martin, in his first stage appearance since making the headlines earlier this year when, as Nigel Pargetter, he plunged to his death in the sensational 60th anniversary edition of The Archers.
Basket Case is directed by Robin Lefevre and designed by Liz Ascroft with lighting by Ian Scott and sound by John Leonard.
